Great Pouf if only it didn't STINK

This pouf was exactly what I wanted. I filled it and put it in my living room and it added that great pop to my decor. However, I can't live with the overwhelming, unpleasant odor, which hasn't gone away. I bathed it in baking soda for several days, and then ruined it by misting the inside with essential oil and water. It created dark spots that are apparently there for good. I can't return it now, so I'm stuck with a smelly pouf that looks like it has mold on it. I'll probably dye it dark and give it away, if it ever stops smelling bad. Such a shame, it was a beautiful item that would have been perfect.
